Our commitment to the environment
Since our beginnings, in 1981, having as main activity the recovery and recycling of plastic materials, the Environment has been and is one of the key pillars in the company. As a manufacturer of ppr pipes, being a plastic material, we have the responsibility to satisfy current needs without compromising future generations. We are aware of the value that our services bring to society and we are committed to the protection of the natural environment. We are committed to a sustainable future.
THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
All REPOLEN products are manufactured with a non-toxic material, which does not generate waste during its manufacture, promoting the production of goods aimed at achieving zero landfill. In addition, the design characteristics of REPOLEN products allow the reduction of consumption due to their great durability and efficiency during their useful life. Once their useful life is over, REPOLEN piping systems have a correct re-entry into the circuit, thanks to their recyclability, being transformed again into raw material for different products.
We think about the future of our products. Both our pipes and fittings are manufactured with sustainable materials and are under exhaustive control systems, so that their life cycle minimizes the anthropogenic impact. At Reboca we are committed to the circular economy. We take into account the impact of our products on nature; from the purchase of raw materials to the recycling of our pipes after 50 years of useful life, passing through the design and research phase, production, recycling of waste, distribution and final consumption.
Sustainable development is possible
At Reboca we set different sustainable improvement goals every year. We create environmentally friendly products, using sustainable materials which are later used to build sustainable buildings. In our Quality and Environmental Management policy, in addition to maintaining the Quality System in force, complying with legal and regulatory standards and manufacturing high quality products, our objective is to respect the environment and its surroundings. We consider sustainable development as our only goal; we must have the capacity to satisfy present needs without compromising the needs of future generations. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is a global commitment of 193 countries to develop an action plan “for people, planet and prosperity”. At Reboca, we carry out this environmental commitment with different actions.
A ZERO-EMISSION PLANET
On the one hand, thanks to the Good Housekeeping Practices training at Reboca, we raise awareness and sensitize all our employees, instilling respect for the environment. We promote appropriate environmental behavior, encouraging the responsible use of energy from the production process to the office, reminding our colleagues to prioritize digital media, check errors before printing and only do so if necessary, reuse paper, etc. On a daily basis, we carry out a correct segregation of waste and manage the selective collection of waste to facilitate its recycling.
We use packaging products made from reclaimed material and others containing up to 90% recycled material. In addition, we redesigned our cardboard boxes and now use a single white ink. Green is one of the most polluting colors when it comes to inks, as its composition makes it a very difficult waste to dispose of. Being our corporate color, we will always cherish our old green boxes. However, white is one of the least polluting colors. We have also reduced the printed surface by 95%, achieving eco-friendly packaging that is much more in line with our values.
Moreover, at Reboca we manufacture products using sustainable resources that minimize the emission of greenhouse gases and, therefore, reduce the impact of the carbon footprint on our planet. We prevent pollution by using environmentally friendly raw materials. We recover our waste and use it as raw material, creating tubes from material recovered from our own factory. In addition, we have an installation of 800 photovoltaic modules, with a total installed power of 440 Kwp, 4 inverters of 100,000W and an anti-disposal system of the surpluses. In other words, our facilities are green, since we use solar energy that is collected directly from the solar panels on the roof of our warehouse in L’Ollería.

What is the carbon footprint?
The carbon footprint is the calculation of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from human activity. When we carry out everyday activities such as charging a cell phone or running a washing machine, we emit gases that accumulate in the atmosphere and overheat our planet, accelerating climate change. All companies are emitting greenhouse gases during their product manufacturing process, transportation or energy consumption.
Calculating our carbon footprint helps us to assess the environmental impact of our business and production activities and to identify opportunities for improvement to reduce our emissions. Since 1961, the carbon footprint has increased 11-fold and accounts for 60% of the total human impact on the environment. Therefore, we know that it is of vital importance to act, implementing different initiatives and taking measures to reduce our impact and achieve our goal of 0 emissions. At Reboca S.L. we are committed to our goal of sustainable development for the 2030 Agenda. We are continuously improving our energy efficiency, carrying out status studies, quantifying emission factors, analyzing risks and opportunities in order to carry out sustainable projects to reduce emissions, combining efficiency with sustainability.
In 2022, our activity had a carbon footprint impact of 450.28 t CO2e. Thanks to the various initiatives implemented throughout last year, we managed to reduce our emissions. Our company’s carbon footprint in 2023 is 473.64 t CO2e. It may seem contradictory that the 2023 figure is higher than that of 2022, however, in 2023 there was a very significant increase in our production capacity. We produced 497,694.52 kg more than the previous year.
Environmental certificates
A further step in our commitment to the environment was to implement the ISO 14001:2015 international standard for Environmental Management. We always seek to improve our performance by promoting the protection of the environment, with effective risk management, considering the prevention and protection of the environment, in the development of our different activities in compliance with the key pillars of the company. We are also enrolled in the MORE platform in order to have more sustainable product consumption and a working methodology focused on sustainable transition. The MORE platform develops a tracking and tracing methodology that allows us to fully digitize the management of recycled use through digital traceability and information management systems. The MORE seal recognizes our commitment to the circular economy.
In addition, we have an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). An EPD is a summary of a product’s life cycle assessment (LCA), from raw material sourcing to production, shipment, consumption and post-consumer, i.e. waste disposal and recycling. The EDP provides us with information on a product’s impact on the environment, global warming potential, smog creation, ozone depletion and water pollution. Thanks to all these certifications and our rigorous compliance with all their standards, we are getting closer and closer to a sustainable future. These tools help us to quantify our impact and thus identify areas for improvement. They also serve to confirm that our actions are helping and to reinforce our commitment.
